Carrabelle, FL

The History of Carrabelle, Florida, Franklin County & Florida's Forgotten Coast

Carrabelle, Florida is a historic working & fishing community located right on the Gulf of Mexico on Highway 98 in the Florida Panhandle.  A true blue collar fishing village, the hardworking people of Carrabelle have been harvesting from the sea for more than 100 years. Today, Carrabelle is known for its shrimping, oystering, commercial and recreational game fishing, and tourism, as the local area beaches continue to draw people in from all over.

Franklin County, FL was dubbed the Forgotten Coast because of its unspoiled yet historic natural beauty. It is one of the last remaining stretches of Florida's Gulf Coast beaches that haven't fallen victim to high rises & commercial strip malls. The Forgotten Coast is made up of the local communities of Apalachicola, Alligator Point, Carrabelle, St. George Island & Eastpoint, FL.
